National Jumpstart Read Aloud Day
Mr. Francisco came in to read A Snowy Day to our class on October 7th for the National Jumpstart Read Aloud Day.

Project Week
“All About Me” Project Week
October 4-15
This week students will complete several projects as culminating activities related to our “All About Me” planner. We will finish off our planner with the “Me” Museum next week.
Activities
• Body Tracing-Each student will have their body traced then they will paint their tracing to look as close to them as possible.
• Me/We class book-each students will work with a partner to complete their page for the class book. They will draw and label things they like on one side of the page and on the other side they will draw and label things they both like.
• We will also finish several projects that we did not get to these last few weeks.
• Journal 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th and 14th only
• Math-Graphing and number line activities
Information
• Monday, October 4th-Our class party will be held under the pavilion by the here at Mark Twain at 5:30. I will be there for a short time if you can make it.
• Wednesday, October 6th-The Kindergarten teachers will have their PYP planning for half the day. I will be out of class, to plan with our PYP coordinator, Kathleen Blakeslee. This is only a half day I will be back in my room after lunch.
• Thursday, October 7th-We will be a part of the National Jumpstart Read aloud. We will have a guest reading to our class.
• Friday, October 9th-We will have our first art-a-la-carte lesson by Monica Blanco. We will also be participating in the Huckleberry Park Ribbon cutting about 9:30.
• Wednesday, October 13th-Fieldtrip to the Children’s Museum, the cost for students is $8.50 and for parents it $4.00. So far I don’t have any volunteers to go with us. You don’t have to ride with us on the bus but I do need chaperones. If you can go with us see me ASAP.
• Friday, October 15th-“Me Museum” at 8:00-9:00 a.m. Students will have many projects pertaining to our current planner “All About Me” displayed in our classroom that day. This will be a culminating activity for our planner. Please come and see all the work we have been doing.
• Friday, October 15th-There will be a Dual Language breakfast held in the cafeteria to meet and greet our new Cultural and Language Assistant from Spain. Every year the Spanish consulate provides us with an assistant. I know this is during our “Me museum” however you could go over there first for a few minutes then come to our room. I will attend the breakfast for about 10 minutes then come back to the museum.
• Monday, October 18th-Picture day, the money must be in the envelope provided to purchase the pictures.
• Saturday, October 23rd-Spooky Spaghetti Supper. The sign-up sheet is posted outside our class. Please sign up for a time slot if you can help.

4-15 de octubre
Esta semana completaremos varios proyectos para terminar las actividades sobre el tema “Todo sobre de mi” Terminaremos esta unidad la próxima semana con el “Museo de mi”.
Actividades
• Trazando el cuerpo-Cada estudiante tendrá su cuerpo trazado y luego lo pintaran para que se mire como ellos.
• Un libro de la clase en ingles de “Me/We”, Yo/Nosotros-cada estudiante trabajará con un compañero para completar una pagina. Dibujaran y escribirán las cosas que les gusta a el/ella. Después voltean la página y harán lo mismo pero esta vez que les gusta a los dos.
• También terminaremos varios proyectos que no terminamos durante las semanas pasadas.
• Diario solamente el 4, 5, 11, 12 y 14
• Matemáticas-haciendo graficas y actividades usando la línea de números.

• 4 de octubre, lunes-Nuestra fiesta de la clase en el parque grande en el frente de Mark Twain a las 5:30. Yo estaré allí por un rato si pueden venir.
• 6 de octubre, miércoles-Las maestras de Kindergarten tendrán la mañana para hablar con la coordinadora del programa de PYP, Kathleen Blakeslee. Regresaré después del almuerzo.
• 7 de octubre, jueves estaremos participando en el Día nacional de leer en voz alta. Tendremos un visitante para leer a la clase.
• 9 de octubre, viernes-Tendremos la primera lección de Arte-a-la-Carte por Monica Blanco. También estaremos participando en la presentación del parque de Huckleberry aproximadamente a las 9:30.
• 13 de octubre, miércoles-Iremos al museo de los niños. El costo es $8.50 para los estudiantes y $4.00 para los padres. Desde hoy todavía no tengo ningún voluntario para que nos acompañe al museo. No tiene que ir en le autobús pero si necesito voluntarios.
• 15 de octubre, viernes-“El museo de mí” a las 8:00-9:00. Los estudiantes tendrán muchos proyectos que estarán en nuestra clase del tema sobre “Todo sobre de mí”. Por favor vengan a ver todo el trabajo que hemos hecho.
• 15 de octubre, viernes-Tendremos un desayuno para darle la bienvenida a nuestro asistente de Lenguaje y Cultura que viene de España departe del consulado de España. Yo se que este es durante nuestro “Museo de mí” pero pueden ir por unos cuantos minutos y luego venir al museo. Yo voy ir solamente por 10 minutos y regresaré a nuestra clase después.
• 18 de octubre, lunes-el día de las fotos. El dinero tiene que estar en el sobre que les dieron para poder comprar las fotos.
• 23 de octubre-La lista para ayudar con el “Spooky Spaghetti Supper" (el carnaval de Halloween) esta afuera de la puerta del salón. Por favor si puede ayudar ponga su nombre en un horario.

Taste Experiment/Experimento del gusto
We had our first science experiment this week. We used our sense of taste to see which one we liked best: salty-cracker, sour-pickle, sweet-mango and bitter-unsweetened baker’s chocolate. I guess you know which one was not liked.
Esta semana tuvimos nuestro primer experimento de ciencias. Usamos nuestro sentido del gusto para ver cual les gustó más: salado-galleta salada, amargo-pepino, dulce-mango y agrio-chocolate para cocinar sin azúcar. Ustedes pueden adivinar cual no les gustó mucho.
