Safety

Activities
-Read aloud, When there is a Fire, Go outside! Students practice dialing 911, and discuss what an emergency is.
-Discuss Stranger Danger, and role play various situations.
-Read aloud, Gloria and Officer Buckle. Students write their own safety tip.
-Students classify activities as safe or unsafe.
-Read aloud, Left and Right, students practice words and directions.
-Journal all week.

-Activities with the calendar and temperature

Information
- Monday, October 29th-Math night 5:30-7:30. This is a fun night of math for everyone in your family.
- I am ready to start meeting for parent conferences. I am going to schedule those that had originally wanted to meet with me. If you would like a conference please e-mail me. I am available morning at 7:30 and afternoons at 3:30 except Wednesdays. I have a few days that I can meet at 12:15.

I know that many of you like to plan ahead so here are a few events that are already planned and I will continue to post new dates as I learn about them.

Información
-29 de octubre, lunes-la noche de matemáticas. Este es una noche de matemáticas para todos en la familia.
-Estoy preparada para tener las conferencias con los padres. Voy hacer la cita con los padres que querían tener una conferencia con migo primero. Si le gustaría una conferencia por favor me puede enviar un coreo electrónico. Estoy disponible las mañanas a las 7:30 y las tardes a las 3:15 excepto los miércoles. Tengo algunos días que puedo tener una conferencia a las 12:15.

Las próximas fechas

Yo se que muchos de ustedes les gusta saber de eventos con tiempo entonces aquí hay unos que ya están planificados y continuaré poniendo más cuando yo sepa de ellos.

How We Organize Ourselves

We begin our second planner “How We Organize Ourselves”. The central idea is “Humans organize personally and within systems for comfort and connections”. We begin with an Eric Carle author study because so many of his books deal with the days of the week, sequencing, time and seasons.

Activities
• We will have a fun and exciting day Monday. Ask your child about this day.
• Read The Very Hungry Caterpillar, sequence the events of the story.
• Read Brown Bear, Brown Bear , sequence the characters.
• Read The Very Busy Spider, sequence the events and make a glittery web.
• Read Have You Seen My Cat?, match the cat with the characters, sponge paint a Calico cat, and write a story to go with the painting.
• Journal all week.
• Sight words: es = is la = the (feminine)
• Math- sequence numbers 0 – 10, problem solving using pictures, months of the year, days of the week, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Math Vocabulary = I would like everyone to learn the months of the year, days of the week in Spanish.    Months: enero, febrero, marzo, abril, mayo, junio, julio, agosto, septiembre, octubre, noviembre, diciembre. Days of the week: lunes, martes, miércoles, jueves, viernes, sábado, domingo.
The days of the week and the months of the year are never capitalized in Spanish.
Information
• I am in the process of giving everyone the Tejas Lee. I have until Friday.
• Picture day – Thursday, October 18th. If you want to buy them you must bring the money before we take them. These are the individual pictures.
• Spooky Spaghetti Supper – Saturday, October 20th. I am sorry but I will be out of town that day but I hope someone takes pictures of all our class.
• Early dismissal Wednesday, October 24th.

                                                          Como nos organizamos


Empezamos nuestra segunda unidad “Como nos organizamos”. La idea central es “Los humanos se organizan personalmente y entre sistemas para comodidad y las conexiones. Empezamos con un estudio sobre el autor Eric Carle porque muchos de sus libros son de los días de la semana, secuencia, el tiempo y las estaciones.

Actividades
• Tendremos un día muy divertido el lunes. Pregúntele a su hijo/hija sobre este día.
• Leer La oruga muy hambrienta, poner los eventos del cuento en orden.
• Leer Oso pardo, Oso pardo; poner los personajes en orden.
• Leer La araña muy ocupada, poner los eventos en orden y hacer una telaraña.
• Leer ¿Has visto mi gato?, poner los personajes con sus gatos, pintar un gato Calicó y escribir un cuento con el arte.
• Diario toda la semana.
• Palabras de uso frecuente: es la
• Matemáticas – poner los números en orden 0 – 10, resolver problemas usando dibujos, meses del año, días de la semana, ayer, hoy y mañana. Vocabulario de matemáticas = Me gustaría que todos aprendan los meses del año y los días de la semana. Un recordatorio que los días de la semana y los meses del año siempre empiezan con la letra minúscula.

• Estoy en el proceso de darle a todos el Tejas Lee. Tengo hasta el viernes.
• El día del foto – jueves, 18 de octubre. Si quieren comprarlos necesitan traer el dinero para ese día. Estos fotos son individuales.
• La cena del “Spooky Spaghetti”, - sábado, 20 de octubre. Lo siento pero no voy a poder asistir este evento porque voy a estar afuera del pueblo este día pero espero que alguien puede tomar fotos de todos los niños de nuestra clase.
