We will continue our "Tell me a Story" planner the next few weeks. We will read various versions of all three stories.

Activities
• Make a 3-D Three Bears House to dramatize story.
• Writing activity, After Goldilocks left the bear’s house...
• Student book of The Three Pigs.
• Students will choose their favorite pig house and describe.
• Students will create a story board and dramatize the story of the Billy Goats Gruff
• Students will dramatize all three stories.
• Listening comprehension activities all stories.
• Journal all week!
• Math
-Activities involving patterns on a 100’s chart.


Information
• I will not be in school Tuesday due to jury duty.
• A visit from Houston Ballet on Tuesday!

Teeth

Teeth and Tooth Fairy Traditions

January 21 – 25

                              Our focus this week will be Tooth Fairy Traditions around the World.

Activities
• Finish research on individual countries.
• Read Throw Your Tooth on the Roof discuss the different traditions that happen around the world when a tooth is lost.
• Students will write and draw what they think the tooth fairy does with the teeth she collects.
• Read aloud, Brush your Teeth, students will write and draw about good and bad things for teeth.
• Math – identify geometrical shapes

Information
• We will be talking about dental health. There will be a log to keep at home of healthy snacks and tooth brushing. The log will be in the red folder.
• The 100th day of school will be February 5th. Please see red folder for homework information.
• Field trip to Main Street Theater to see “Ms. Nelson is missing” will be Thursday Feb. 28th. Permission slip to be sent soon.

Dientes y las tradiciones de las hadas de los dientes

21 – 25 de enero

Actividades

• Terminaremos las investigaciones de los países individuales.
• Leer Tira el diente en el techo, hablar sobre las diferentes tradiciones que hay alrededor del mundo cuando se caí un diente.
• Los estudiantes escribirán e ilustrarán acerca de ¿Qué creen que hace el hada del diente, con los dientes que ella colecciona?
• Leer en voz alta, “Cepilla tus dientes”; los estudiantes escribirán e ilustrarán los buenos y malos hábitos para sus dientes.
• Matemáticas – identificar las figuras geométricas.

Información
• Estaremos hablando acerca de la salud dental. Habrá una hoja de seguimiento para hacer en casa, esacerca de meriendas saludables y del cepillado de dientes. La hoja de seguimiento estará en la carpeta roja.
• Los 100 días de la escuela será el 5 de febrero. Por favor miren en la carpeta roja para la información detarea.
• Excursión al teatro de “Main Street” para ver la obra de “Miss Nelson is missing” será el 28 de febrero. El permiso vendrá después.

Activities
• We will finish up our heritage research this week. The students will then present their country posters to the class.
• Read aloud, Everybody Cooks Rice. Friday we will use our "passports" and travel the world tasting rice from various countries.
• Tejas Lee mid-year will be given to each student. This is an HISD individual phonemic awareness assessment.
• Math ... ordinals and addition.
• LDC all week, except Friday!

Information
• Book orders due Wednesday.
• We would love to have you come and talk about your country to our class. Bring a few artifacts, talk about some of the celebrations, food and maybe a sample. It can be at anytime you choose I will work around your schedule.
• Do not forget to come and be a mystery reader. We have had 4 this year and I have 1 more scheduled.
• January 29th, Tuesday, Bingo night 5:30-7:30.
• January 30th, Wednesday, Early dismissal.

14 – 18 de enero

Actividades • Terminaremos las investigaciones de nuestra herencia esta semana. Entonces los estudiantes lo presentarán a la clase.
• Leer, Todo el mundo cocina arroz. El viernes usaremos nuestros “pasaportes” y viajaremos alrededor del mundo probando arroz de varios países.
• Tejas Lee medio del año se lo dará a cada estudiante. Este es un examen del distrito escolar para cada estudiante.
• Matemáticas… números ordinales y sumar.
• LDC toda la semana menos el viernes.

Información
• El orden de los libros se entrega el miércoles.
• Nos gustaría que vinieran y hablarán a la clase de su país. Puede traer artefactos, hablar de las celebraciones, la comida y quizás traer una merienda. Puede ser cuando ustedes quieran yo trabajare alrededor de su horario.
• Que no se les olvide a venir a ser el lector misterioso. Hemos tenido 4 este año y tengo 1 más en el calendario.

January 8-11

Activities • Read aloud, Whoever You Are, students begin the study of their heritage.
• The next project will be a research project done during the school day. Each student will research their own personal history. They will present posters they create to the class.
• Journal this week.
• Parents are invited to come and share a little bit of their culture with the class. In the past parents have brought in artifacts, pictures, and books to help the children learn more about various cultures. If you are interested please email me and we can work out a time for you to visit with us.
• Math
   o Fractions, ordinal numbers and new math games!

Information
• Happy New Year to you all! The first half of our Kindergarten year is over! Thank you all for the wonderful, generous gifts. Thank you notes are in the red folders.
• Our room will be very busy this week. I have changed some of the learning centers. We will spend the week reviewing old centers and learning the new centers.
• I have changed some of the workstations so we will learn the new assignments.
• By the end of January, we will begin Math workstations which are similar to the literacy workstations except the focus is on math.
• I will be reassessing reading levels this week look for them with the report cards.
• Tejas Lee testing begins next week.
• No school Monday, January 21st.
• Art night Tuesday, January 29th.
• Early dismissal Wednesday, January 30th.

Actividades

• Leer, Quienquiera que seas, los estudiantes empiezan el estudio de su herencia.
• El siguiente proyecto será una investigación hecho en la clase. Cada estudiante investigará su herencia personal. Presentarán los carteles que crearán a la clase.
• Diario toda la semana.
• Los padres están invitados para compartir con la clase un poco de su cultura. En los años pasados los padres han traído artefactos, fotos y libros para ayudarles a los estudiantes aprender más de los varios culturas. Si está interesado por favor envíeme y podemos escoger un horario para que nos visite.
• Matemáticas
   o Fracciones, números ordinales y algunos juegos nuevos.

• ¡Feliz año nuevo a todos! ¡La primera mitad de Kindergarten ya se terminó! Muchas gracias a todos por los regalos maravillosos que me dieron. Las notas de gracias están en las carpetas rojas.
• Nuestro salón estará muy ocupada esta semana. He cambiado algunos centros de aprendizaje. Tomaremos esta semana revisando los centros viejos y aprendiendo los centros nuevos.
• Cambie algunos de las estaciones de alfabetización, aprenderemos estos también.
• Para los fines de enero empezaremos las estaciones de matemáticas que son casi como las de alfabetización pero el enfoque será en matemáticas.
• Estaré reexaminado los niveles de lectura esta semana, búsquelos con las calificaciones.
• El Tejas Lee empezará la próxima semana.
• No habrá escuela el lunes, 21 de enero.
• Noche de arte, jueves, 29 de enero.
• Salida temprano, miércoles, 30 de enero.
