Who We Are

Chicka Chicka, Boom Boom

September 4-7

We will begin the first of our six planners, “Who We Are”. The central idea is “Individual and group choices contribute to the quality of communities.” We have three lines of inquiry that guide our instruction: Impact of individual choices, rights and responsibilities within groups, and building community.

Activities

• Read Chicka Chicka, Boom Boom, students will create their own coconut tree using the letters in their name.

• Read aloud Chrysanthemum, students will study their names; letters, sounds and syllables.

• Read aloud, My Name Is Alice, students will draw and write things that begin with the same sound as their name.

• Fun Friday cooking, make and eat an ABC tree. Please see the sign-up sheet outside for needed items.

• Math-Activities involving number and visual discrimination. Vocabulary for the week (Same-igual, different-diferente, classify-clasificar, does not belong-no pertenece

• Journal all week. We will discuss volunteers for journal during open house.

• HISD requires field trip volunteers to register with the district and get the required background check. Please start the process soon because you will not be allowed to volunteer without it. See Liz Cisneros in the office.

• Open House Thursday September 6th 6:00-7:00

Needed

I posted a note outside our door for items that are needed by this Friday morning. Please check the board regularly for any updates. I will also be putting together a list of other items that are needed for the class. Any and all donations are always accepted and greatly appreciated.

Quien somos

Chica chica, bum bum

4-7 de septiembre

Empezaremos la primera de nuestras seis unidades, “Quien somos”. La idea central es “Las opciones individuales y de grupo contribuye a la calidad de las comunidades”. Tenemos tres líneas de investigación que guían nuestra instrucción: El impacto de las opciones individuales, los derechos y las responsabilidades entre los grupos y la construcción de la comunidad.

Actividades

• Leer Chica chica, bum bum, los estudiantes harán su propio árbol de coco usando las letras en su nomre

• Leer Chrysanthemum, los estudiantes estudiarán sus nombres; letras, sonidos y silabas.

• Leer Mí nombre es Alicia, los estudiantes van a escribir y dibujar las cosas que tengan el mismo sonido que su nombre.

• Divirtiéndonos los viernes cocinando, hacer y comer un árbol de ABC. Por favor miren la hoja afuera de nuestra clase para las cosas que necesitamos.

• Matemáticas-Actividades con números y discriminación visual. Vocabulario para la semana: igual, diferente, clasificar y no pertenece

• Diario toda la semana, hablaremos sobre los voluntarios durante la casa abierta.

Información

• Empezando esta semana pondré mis notas en el blog de la escuela. Por favor emprime en la red http://martineztwain.blogspot.com/.  Mandaré una copia de papel si no tiene el correo electrónico o si quiere una copia.

• HISD requiere que todos los voluntarios se registren con el distrito. Por favor empieza este proceso. No pueden ser voluntarios en la clase sin esto. Pueden hablar con Liz Cisneros en la oficina.

• Casa abierta será el 6 de septiembre 6:00-7:00.

 Necesitamos

Coloque una nota con algunas cosas que necesitamos para este viernes. Por favor revise el tablero afuera del salón regularmente para ver que hay de nuevo. También estaré haciendo una lista de otras cosas que necesitamos en la clase. Cualquier y todas las donaciones son apreciadas.
